Joan Mitchell
Published in Hardcover by Harry N Abrams (February, 1997)
Author: Klaus Kertess
Average review score:

Best, most complete collection of Mitchell's works.
The narrative is interesting, but the main purpose for this book, at least for me, is a collection of pictures of her work. This book has the most complete collection of her work that I've found. The plates are large, beautfiul, and very well done, allowing you to see lots of detail! If you are interested in Joan Mitchell you should absolutely get this book.

Joan Mitchell
Published in Paperback by Hudson Hills Pr (October, 1997)
Authors: Judith E. Bernstock, Joan Mitchell, Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art, Thomas W. Leavitt, and Herbert F Johnson Museum of A
Average review score:

If you love modern art, this book is a must!
I only recently became aware of Joan Mitchell's work through the help of my art teacher and I'm so glad. I don't think you'll be able to find a more informative or complete collection of her work and her background. Her work is intermingled with the biographical information in chronological order in many great and often oversized (fold out) color plates.

This is one for your permanent art collection.

Joni Mitchell
Published in Paperback by Putnam Pub Group (Paper) (February, 1976)
Author: Leonore Fleischer
Average review score:

Cherished collectible
I can't believe no one has ever reviewed this little book -- it literally has been on my bookshelf for years! I bought my well-thumbed copy in a book store in Rockefeller Center about 1976. It's a "fan club" type book, which was written and published at the point in her career when Joni was at the top of her game. It provides a 'snap shot' of Joni and her work (and her loves!) at a particular moment, and it's a fascinating read almost thirty years after its publication. Any die-hard Joni fan will get a big kick out of this one.

Joni Mitchell Complete

From Song to a Seagull, to Court and Spark
I just wanted to add a note here for those looking for this book. I owned it once, and wish I still had it. It contained all of the sheet music from the albums, "Song to a Seagull" through "Court and Spark". The only currently available folio containing any of this material is "Anthology", which is mighty thin for a true musician/music lover. Her newer albums are also available in complete album folios. "Complete" has some artwork from the albums, photographs, and nicely typeset charts. I believe it contained guitar tablature, along with vocal and piano accompaniment. It is a shame to have it out of print, as her music is a historical record, in many ways.

K'Atsina: A Novel of Rebellion

Authors: Lana M. Harrigan, M. Lana Harrigan, Ellisa H. Mitchell, and Gary Moeller

K'Aatsina: A Novel of Rebellion
Ms. Harrigan has done it again! This novel, like her previous one, Acoma: A Novel of Conquest, is an engrossing read alive with wonderful characters in an exotic time and place. No one makes history come alive the way Harrigan does. I eagerly await whatever is next from this very talented writer.

The King Of Oafs
Published in Paperback by Kenn Mitchell (03 March, 2000)
Author: Kenn Mitchell

an Oaf in time
From the begining selections "old woman" all the way through part four "I Love Those Who Yearn For The Impossible" this book of poetry shows us a poet focusing a keen eye on the everyday and extraordinary events that filter through a workingman's life, as well as those allusive transcendental moments that present themselves to those with open eyes: here's a poet weaving such diverse threads, creating a well worn fabric of humanity in the raw .... "flat tire", a love poem by the side of the road...... poetry of 'the mill' and the dramas that unfold in the massive rolls of paper, "a smell & feel all its own"; the song of a night shifter.... there are trolls, unmanicured gods, owls hunting night's dreams, and the many spells of loves and labors lost, found, misplaced..... a working man's loves and labors born of a working man's god... tenderness and callused dreams go hand-in-hand throughout "The King Of Oafs"... an excellent read! ...."i know my song, as if the banter of crows, was never easy to dismiss" (from "God Of Corn" - KING OF OAFS)... thanks to Kenn for putting mind and pen to paper!

The Laurel & Hardy Encyclopedia
Published in Paperback by Trafalgar Square (June, 1903)
Author: Glenn Mitchell
Average review score:

L&H Encyclopedia a must-own
This is a gold mine of information, much of which is not going to be found elsewhere easily, if at all. Glenn Mitchell has done a thorough job of researching his subjects, and it shows. Clearly, he enjoys The Boys as well, since a noticeable amount of wit and humor add to the fun of reading the book. Incidentally, it's virtually im possible ("I have just two words...") to read the book in sequence; the cross references just go on and on. All in all, it's a most worthy companion to Randy Skretvedt's "Laurel and Hardy: the Magic Behind the Movies".
